What New Hampshire Actually Requires: an Address That Exists Here

Worth being clear about what roughly $596 a year is buying, because the state's specification is short.

Your registered agent needs a street address physically located in New Hampshire. Not a mailbox, not a forwarding arrangement in another state, not a corporate headquarters in Texas with New Hampshire written underneath it. The address on your filing and the agent's own business office have to be the same place, and the state's own form instructions warn that an application listing an out-of-state address will not be processed.

Somebody has to be at that address during business hours to take delivery of a lawsuit. That is the job. It is the same job at $99 and at $596, performed at the same kind of building, under the same rules.

2. Download the form. New Hampshire's vehicle for a new registered office or a new registered agent is Form 10.

4. Lodge it with the Corporation Division of the Department of State. $15 is the fee. Pay electronically and you will be charged $17, because RSA 5:10-a tells the state to attach a $2 handling charge whenever a fee is settled over the internet. The fee did not go up; a separate charge was set beside it.
5. Confirm, then cancel. When the public record shows the new agent, close the Swyft account.
